Do any of you
struggle with anxiety over what tomorrow holds? I've heard several people
express lately their fear in regard to the days ahead for America. Many
are seeking after the opinions of so-called "experts" for what lies in
store for us. What should be our attitude toward the future in general?
There is one thing the Word of God would remind us about the unknown...
Deut. 29:29, "The secret things belong unto the Lord our God: but those
things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever,
that we may do all the words of this law."
We are forbidden by the Lord to inquire into that which belongs to Him...
Just as it's rude to poke our noses into other people's business, so too,
is it rude for us to poke our noses into God's business! Secret things
are private things; they are not ours to meddle with; it's as simple as
that. Therefore, ladies, you can stop reading your horoscopes, visiting
the palm readers, and taking self-discovery tests to determine what lies
ahead for you! Scripture directs and encourages us to immerse ourselves
in that which has been revealed to mankind - those things found in the
Word of God. These things belong to us, they are ours to consume ourselves
with, to rest in, to obey, to abide by. Not only do they belong to us,
our children should also embrace the valuable information God has given
in His word. Yes, it's theirs to know too! How aware would you say your
children are of the contents of the Bible? If you are tempted to flirt
with the unknown, why not busy yourself with teaching your children what
the Word of God says instead? It's time we poked our noses deep into our
own business, amen?
Acts 1:7, "And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times
or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power."
I realize that people do not like to hear the words, "It is not for you
to know". Somehow that stirs in our spirits a determination to kick the
door open and experience the forbidden. How disobedient can we get as
a human race when a "No Trespassing" sign has been posted by the Lord!
Whatever boundaries God has given us, it seems we are bent on crossing
that line, just as Eve did. By the way, it's not curiosity, it's sin to
behave in such a way. By her example alone, we learn that forbidden fruit
has a bitter taste... Contrary to the lies the devil would feed you, happiness
does not lie on the other side of the line, it lies in doing that which
we know to do!
John 13:17, "If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them."
Misery comes when we meddle in that which is not ours to know. Have you
stopped to consider that you might not be mature enough to handle those
secret things? Has your pride prevented you from realizing that we don't
have the capacity to handle everything God knows? Ladies, if you don't
want to be miserable, leave the secret things alone. Leave them where
they belong - with God! He has seen fit to conceal certain things for
a reason. We must therefore trust His decision and submit to His plan.
It's futile for us to speculate. It's faithless for us to worry. The important
thing is not to be curious or anxious about the future, but to be busy
in the present! Are you busy doing that which God has told you in His
Word?? Even just a glimpse of God's plan for His children should motivate
us to serve Him more - no matter what the rest of the world may say or
do.
Mark 13:26, "And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds
with great power and glory."
"What are the signs of the end times?" It's an all-absorbing topic as
of late, amen? Ladies, there have been people in every generation since
Christ's resurrection claiming to know exactly when Jesus would return.
No one has been right yet, however, because Christ will return on God's
timetable, not ours! It's a secret; it's private information; it's been
hidden; it's none of our business when. We have been told Jesus will come
back, have we not? That much has been revealed. There is no profit in
going further than that. Therefore, poke your nose deep into your total
commitment to have your heart and life ready for Christ's return!
God Bless,
Pam
