QUOTES:
"The desire to be and have a sister is a primitive and profound one that
may have everything or nothing to do with the family a woman is born to.
It is a desire to know and be known by someone who shares blood and body,
history and dreams."
"Having a sister is like having a best friend you can't get rid of. You
know whatever you do, they'll still be there."
"Sisters are for sharing laughter and wiping tears."
"Sisters are connected throughout their lives by a special bond... whether
they try to ignore it or not. For better or for worse, sisters remain
sisters, until death do them part."
"No one knows better than a sister how we grew up, and who our friends,
teachers and favorite toys were. No one knows better than she…"
"Sisters -- they share the agony and the exhilaration. As youngsters they
may share popsicles, chewing gum, hair dryers and bedrooms. When they
grow up, they share confidences, careers and children, and some even chat
for hours every day."
"There's a special kind of freedom sisters enjoy. Freedom to share innermost
thoughts, to ask a favor, to show their true feelings. The freedom to
simply be themselves."
"If you don't understand how a woman could both love her sister dearly
and want to wring her neck at the same time, then you were probably an
only child!"
"Sisters don't need words. They have perfected a language of snarls and
smiles and frowns and winks... expressions of shocked surprise and disbelief.
Sniffs and snorts and gasps and sighs... that can see through any tale
you're telling."
"To have a loving relationship with a sister is not simply to have a buddy
or a confident -- it is to have a soulmate for life."
"A sister is someone who walks beside you in the dark and tightly holds
your hand."
"Like branches on a tree we grow in different directions yet our roots
remain as one. Each of our lives will always be a special part of the
other."
"A sister is someone you let read your secret diary…"
"A sister is your mirror…"
"Sisterhood is powerful."
My Sister
My sister is my heart.
She opens doors to rooms
I never knew were there,
Breaks through walls
I don't recall building.
She lights my darkest corners
With the sparkle in her eyes.
My sister is my soul.
She inspires my wearied spirit
To fly on wings of angels
But while I hold her hand
My feet never leave the ground.
She stills my deepest fears
With the wisdom of her song.
My sister is my past.
She writes my history
In her eyes I recognize myself,
Memories only we can share.
She remembers, she forgives
She accepts me as I am
With tender understanding.
My sister is my future.
She lives within my dreams
She sees my undiscovered secrets,
Believes in me as I stumble
She walks in step beside me,
Her love lighting my way.
My sister is my strength
She hears the whispered prayers
That I cannot speak
She helps me find my smile,
Freely giving hers away
She catches my tears
In her gentle hands.
My sister is like no one else
She's my most treasured friend
Filling up the empty spaces
Healing broken places
She is my rock, my inspiration.
Though impossible to define,
In a word, she is...my sister.
Proverbs 7:4
Say unto wisdom, Thou art my sister…
A sister is someone who is part of our family and we are united to them
by having the same parents. Often times we resemble our sister in one
way or another… Likewise, God would have us develop the same relationship
with wisdom as we would with a sister. Does wisdom hold a treasured place
in your life today? Do you have the proper attachment to the Word of God?
Ladies, we should treat the Bible with the same attitude as we would a
dear sister! As you review the twelve attributes of a sister listed at
the onset of this devotion, take inventory of your own heart and see if
you interact with the Bible the same way. Sisters are to be treated with
honor… When you and I relate to the Word of God as our heavenly Father
dictates, there will be proof of it in our conduct…
HOW WISDOM BEHAVES:
1. Accepts discipline without tantrum - does not waste or despise instruction
2. Obeys all commands - quickly and without complaint
3. Replaces foolishness with good conduct (silliness, jesting, foolish
talk, shallowness, weak- mindedness, misconduct, inattentive, impatient,
lack of good judgment)
4. Mindful of God (Ecc. 12:1) - learns to know & value God's Word - finding
His purpose for your life and working toward it
5. Respects & honors authority - (parents, pastor, husband, laws) Honorable
behavior should not be contingent upon the behavior of your authority,
it should be rooted in how mindful of your Creator you are! Authority
is not given because of perfection. These people are due respect because
God has ordained them to these positions. A wise person, who is mindful
of their Creator, will relate reverently to their authorities. It is not
up to you to determine who is worthy of your submission - you must simply
obey God in the matter!
Have you truly bonded with God's wisdom? Ladies, if there is a lack of
wisdom present in your life as seen in the above five areas, then chances
are you do not have the right attitude toward the Word of God! It is not
as precious to you as it should be and you will be limited in your effectiveness
as a Christian…
My Sister's Hands
My sister's hands are fair and white; my sister's hands are dark
My sister's hands are touched with age, or by the years unmarked
And often when I pray for strength to live as God commands
The Father sends me sustenance in my sister's hands.
My sister's hands are lined and worn with burdens of their own
And yet I know that should I mourn, I need not weep alone
For often as I seek His grace to lighten life's demands
The Father sends me solace borne in my sister's hands.
My sister's hands: compassion's tools that teach my own their art
Witnesses of charity within the human heart
Bearers of the Savior's love and mercy unto man
I have felt the Master's touch in my sister's hands.
What kind of a sister will you be without the Master's touch upon your
hands?
Say unto wisdom, Thou art my sister…
"Adopting God's wisdom is to embrace a perfect sister."
God Bless,
Pam
