The Way God Works

Have you ever stopped to think about the creation story and what it reveals about God's character? Have you ever considered that your beliefs on the origins of life affect the way you live your life on a daily basis? Actually, Genesis chapter one teaches us something about the way God works...

Genesis 1:1-3, "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light."

As scripture describes it, the earth was without form and void - there was literally nothing present of any form or shape. It was empty and dark, without any beauty whatsoever. Perhaps this is descriptive of a particular area of your life... Yes, this is precisely man's condition by nature, before God's work of grace within us. Do you feel like it's impossible for any good to take shape within you? Your answer depends entirely upon what you believe about God! When you are tempted with feeling worthless or useless, you need to turn to this portion of scripture and
remind yourself of the power God has to bring life and beauty to the face of the deep.

As we read Genesis chapter one, we learn that God's creative work took place over the course of six days. Then on the seventh day He rested. How many of you are currently working on a creative project or have taken one on in the past? No doubt you could not complete such a project in one day, let alone one hour!
Certain things take time, amen? Hence, some things God makes beautiful over longer periods of time. But there are other occasions where God has worked suddenly and completely, such as when He spoke light into existence. Therefore ladies, it is understood that our God is not limited to working only over a long period of time.

Psalm 33:9, "For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast."

How about you, dear lady? How does God's character affect your work ethic? Not everything in life should take forever for you to accomplish! There are six days in the week in which we should work at keeping up our homes. Some women have it backwards - they lay around six days and only work one day! Their homes are anything but beautiful to look at... How long have you left various projects around the house undone? Has two days turned into two weeks and now become two years? Are you attempting to faithfully work on a certain percentage every day? Are you working consistently to bring beauty and order to your home? Or is your house still full of confusion and darkness, void of any form or shape...

You see ladies, some things God expects us to do suddenly and completely - in a short period of time, rather than putting it off, making excuses, or neglecting the task altogether. As you read the creation story, we learn that God performs accomplishments of great significance on single days. The world was unfashioned and uninhabited, but it was soon remedied as God worked to change the atmosphere of it, for it was formed to contain life and beauty. How would you feel if He decided to leave one corner of the world without light? We would think it strange of God to neglect a particular place, would we not? Is it not equally as strange for you to leave certain areas of your home unattended to?? Our God has lovingly provided us an orderly world... If you love your family, you'll provide for them a proper atmosphere in your home as well! Our God is a thorough God, amen? It's the way He works... May the grace of God in us produce the light of good works. He did all His work with us in mind - let's do all our work with Him in mind...

Psalm 90:17, "And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish thou it."

God Bless,
