A Suitable Disposition

1 Peter 2:9
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

What is your attitude as of late, dear lady? By that I mean, what is your posture - the active disposition your body parts serve to express your sentiments? How are you typically found expressing yourself? According to the scripture verse above, a temper suitable to the Christian character as born again, is highly recommended! Let's soberly consider today whether or not our behavior is correct under all circumstances of life...

As seen in our verse above, God's people are called out of a certain type of conduct and into another - from darkness of character to light. No matter who we are, or where we've come from, if we are born again there is a new way for us to carry ourselves, ladies! We are to exhibit the manners of royalty, holiness and peculiarity. That's not to say we ought to be deliberately odd in behavior, but we ought to stand out above the crowd by shewing forth the praises (plural) of the One who saved our soul. Yes, there ought to be multiple ways that we display good Christian etiquette day in and day out. Truly feminine behavior is almost extinct...

2 Tim. 3:2-4
For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God…

Reading the above description of various types of conduct is frightful, and yet, don't we observe like manners in people on a daily basis nearly everywhere we go? Ladies, there is a great need for a display of the marvelous light of Christ in this rough, dark world! God has chosen YOU to reflect the beauty of Jesus Christ to those around you. How are you doing?? Did you know that the way you behave yourself reflects your understanding of this truth?? Therefore, the key to good etiquette is consideration for others, as the Bible clearly points out in our opening verse. In the end, correct social conduct is naturally born out of a true concern for people rather than just from training. Yes, there are rules of etiquette to follow, but don't forget the reasons behind them! There are to be no excuses; bad manners and rude behavior is nothing more than a result of thoughtlessness for others! For instance, if you chew with your mouth open or say whatever you want however you want, or dress in any manner you prefer with no concern for appropriateness, you are simply self-centered. You are not displaying that which God would praise, you are displaying your selfishness!

Isaiah 32:17
And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

Ladies, when you don't care what anyone thinks, your influence as a Christian is made of no effect. Women who belong to the Lord have no right to plow through life behaving however they feel! Peace and quiet is a result of righteousness reigning in our hearts - a truly feminine disposition. It's a gentle confidence in action, not a loud-mouthed arrogant, brawling attitude. It's high time we stop and think before we say or do anything! Have you truly been displaying a suitable scriptural disposition, dear lady? As believers, our manners ought not to count against Christ - but for Him! May God forgive us for being so careless with His will and inconsiderate of others. If you are ever in a position when you don't know what behavior is appropriate, then go back to our opening verse and use scriptural sense - do what respect for God and consideration for others prescribes - just as you've been chosen to do!

1 Cor. 6:20
For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

God Bless,
